As discussed in #critsquad, we need to revise the non-existent policy on #thecritters in terms of chat staff, the status quo, bans, and whatever else. Our goal is not to reinvent the wheel, but to give real clarity as to what needs to happen in terms of rules and user behavior.
We are going to add Corvus to the conversation in order to add his thoughts about these changes because he is not crit staff but he is chat staff. His line in the sand is featured in these logs where chatstaff are also able to enact bans in #thecritters.
Talking points and Questions:
- We want to take from the Chat Staff Guide, but how much do we want to take?
- Seems that CSG is a good framework to build off of since it has been lived through in 19 and other public chats.
- We will require #thecritters specific rules what does that all entail?
-
- Critique etiquette for critters and crittees?
-
- Who gets rank in #thecritters?
- Do chat staff get rank? What rank would they get?
-
- As Corvus stated in the logs I mentioned above, “Both chatstaff and crit staff have unilateral authority” in terms of bans and appeals.
-
- Determine what the impact of saying no to chatstaff being able to enact bans in thecritters is.
- Do chat staff get rank? What rank would they get?
- Bans and Appeals
- Do bans in #thecritters always/ever extend to 19 and do 19 bans always/ever extend to #thecritters?
- Critter bans to 19 is left up to chatstaff as that is their domain, the question of "is bad critters behaviour worthy of 19 ban" left to them as well.
- The vast majority of 19 bans are for people who are either bad people or too young/immature to be here. So the decision was made to tie the helen banlist in #thecritters to #site19.
- Removing the tie would require a completely new banlist for helen, which you'd have to ask DrMagnus about. Or losing helen’s ban functionality in #thecritters entirely.
- Site bans translating to #thecritters
- What constitutes Ban Evasion?
- Procedure for JS banning folk?
- Is this the same for OP Staff and Mods?
- Who is in charge of bans and appeals from #thecritters?
- Chat bans from 19 extend to critters too; so where are they decided?
- Is it still discussed in the staff chat chat?
- Do bans in #thecritters always/ever extend to 19 and do 19 bans always/ever extend to #thecritters?
- How do we make the status quo (or the new one) clear for crit staff and possibly users?
- A proper formal discussion on 05 to discuss these for all staff
- #critsquad becomes sort of a lite version of super secret chatstaff room?
- Who gets to make the call of future policy crafting for #thecritters?
- Chat staff, crit staff, or would it be a shared responsibility?
